2022
A national quarantine facility.
In 2022 I led terminal cleaning at Australia's national COVID-19 quarantine facility, purpose built for more than a thousand residents. Terminal cleaning is the decontamination of a room after an infectious occupant leaves it and before the next one arrives. It is signed off, and the signature means the room is safe.
The thing I took from that work is narrow and it has stayed with me. A record that says a room was cleaned is not the same as a room that was cleaned. The gap between those two is where people get hurt. Every control that mattered existed to close it: the room could not be released on an assertion, only on a check that someone had actually made and put their name to.
2023
Fifty sites across Victoria.
The following year I oversaw operations across more than fifty sites in Victoria, including Latrobe Community Health Service medical sites and most of the private hospitals in Melbourne. Same discipline at a different scale. Fifty sites means you cannot personally verify anything, so you are entirely dependent on whether the reporting layer tells you the truth.
It usually does not, unless you build it so that it must. Reports drift toward what people believe should be true. Left alone, a system will confidently tell you a site is compliant because nobody has yet had a reason to say otherwise. That is not lying, it is the default behaviour of any process that treats an unchecked claim and a checked one as the same kind of object.
That is also what a language model does. It is the same failure with a different surface. The claim arrives fluent, correctly formatted and indistinguishable from a verified one, and the reader has no way to tell which they are holding.
Before that
Asteroids, chess, and
two degrees I did not finish.
In 2019 I was recognised by NASA, the Pan-STARRS survey and the Astronomical Research Institute of Sri Lanka for image analysis work on near-Earth objects and Main Belt asteroids. The task is to find a moving point of light in a stack of telescope images and decide whether it is real. Most candidates are artefacts. You are trained to be sceptical of the thing you have just found, which is the first analytical habit I remember being taught properly.
At school I was All-Island team chess champion in 2011 and 2012, Deputy Head Prefect, and left O-Level with nine A grades.
I studied computer security at NSBM with the University of Plymouth, then cyber security at Swinburne in Melbourne. I completed neither.
I state that plainly because it is the fact most likely to matter to someone assessing this work, and because you would find it anyway. I do not have a degree. What I have instead is the operational record above and the code below, both of which you can inspect directly. Judge the work.
Now
Full time since April 2026.
I returned to Sri Lanka in November 2025. I went full time on this in April 2026, after my grandmother's spinal surgery succeeded and I was no longer needed at the hospital.
Since then: NOMOS built and validated, the working paper written, and ÆDEN designed and shipped. Everything on this site was written by one person on one laptop, a 2018 MacBook Pro with no GPU. The benchmark numbers in the working paper are self administered and not independently audited, which is stated there too.
The through line is not complicated. I spent years running systems where an unverified fact has physical consequences, and then built a verification layer for AI. That is the honest reason I work on this.
